Review: Naked Economics: Undressing the Dismal Science
Naked Economics: Undressing the Dismal Science by Charles WheelanMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Another excellent book by Charles Wheelan.
This should be made a compulsory book in every high school, why? There are many reasons:
1. Because it is entertaining and before you know it you happen to learn a lot.
2. You can't escape economics, the very act of living require us to understand some basic economics, like we will never accept a deal that is not making us better.
3. This will make a generation that is better ware and hence are more equipped to handle various issues we face. If only all the policy makers now had this basic Economics understanding, world would be a better place.
If you don't know a lot about economics or didn't learn about it after high school, get ready for a dense and packed economics dose that is more like a cream filled chocolate cake. If you are someone who has lot of understanding of economics, you can enjoy the case studies and stories better, and enjoy the subtle humor that might be lost on many newbies to the field.
My little quibble over the book is that sometimes author changes or talks about a different thing without changing to a new paragraph, which can be confusing for a couple of sentences. Then we shake our head and go back, and start reading those sentences without attaching it to the the sentence preceding it. I wish the author and their editors took better care of this. I enjoyed authors Naked Statistics better.
A must read.
