Review: The Gurkha and the Lord of Tuesday
The Gurkha and the Lord of Tuesday by Saad HossainMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
If you like reading experimental stuff this is for you. This is a good piece of work which is both humorous and intriguingly thought-provoking at the same time, a rare combination. The way the djinn character was dealt with showing his own strengths and insecurities, it was fantastic.
At first, I was like what the heck, looking at djinn handing out expletives like in a teenage drama; And a lot of stuff happening overall, it wasn’t streamlined to speak off. But wait a bit till the djinn gets to the city, which is when the story starts to feel coherent, and it really takes off from there. Alternating bit giggling fun and thought-provoking questions and mystery waiting to be unveiled. Oh! It was lots of fun.
A must-read if you’re a reader of science fiction or fantasy.
