Review: Tongue-in-Cheek: The Funny Side of Life
Tongue-in-Cheek: The Funny Side of Life by Khyrunnisa AMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
More than calling these stories, we should call these anecdotes. In fact some are so short that if you pop in a candy in your mouth and start this anecdote, and keep sucking on the candy vigorously you'd still be left alone with your candy having finished the 'story' first. This both works in favour and also against it. Good thing is it is so short that you can read one when you go for a leak break. The thing that works against it is, after reading one, which feels like sampling a small homemade chocolate, you might want to read another, but the next one would be of a different theme, only common thread being the author. Although she did try and group them to maintain some semblance of a common motif. You're advised to wait for a while, after reading a story, since you can enjoy not just the delectable story but also that nice after taste that can linger for a while making you think of a similar situation you faced. For that reason this is not a book in which two stories are not to be read back to back immediately, and that's where the smaller length of each makes one very hungry for more.
Nevertheless most anecdotes will elicit a small knowing smile from you. You might be able to relate to a lot of them. A very enjoyable read. Must definitely try.
