Review: I Hate Fairyland, Vol. 1: Madly Ever After
I Hate Fairyland, Vol. 1: Madly Ever After by Skottie YoungMy rating: 3 of 5 stars
I picked this book because I really liked the illustrations by Skottie Young (and, of course also the story), in Fortunately, the Milk. Again, I was not disappointed with the illustrations in this book. These illustrations in the 'I Hate Fairyland' are delightfully rude and offensive, and can be lethal to your eyes in a way that bright bubblegum pink being the most mellow color in this book, if you know what I mean. Gertrude is someone who truly deserves the title of 'Despicable Me'. A fun, gripping, okay-ish, in-your-face story, that draws and spoofs a lot of fairytale concepts in a dark way.
Not a bad read, and err, maybe scene, what with most content being visual.
