Review: Birthday Girl

Birthday Girl Birthday Girl by Haruki Murakami
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I think, this is story you read not for the plot but for the subtext and the setting. The narration was good and some recurring questions and quotes make you think and evaluate your own choices. One of the goals of good literature is to commence a dialogue, a discussion. In that this story, despite its length, succeeds, by a huge margin.

To each his/her own interpretation, that one which makes sense to each person. Hence, this book might benefit from re-reading. Don't read this book for its entertainment quotient, for there isn't much, unlike some of his other works.

But the story is still pleasant and smooth, it has that going for it.
