Review: Congratulations, by the way
Congratulations, by the way by George SaundersMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
Really good. Everyone must read it. A great speech from an awesome author. Although I suspect we have known whatever he has said all along, he provides us that nudge we need. Like the author says we want to be kinder, but we just postpone it. We will be kinder, actively be kind, after I get the next job, the next promotion after the next event, since right now we are kind of busy. But there is always that next event. We have all experienced that sense of deep fulfilment and satisfaction after having done a kind deed, but more often than not it's not our priority to be kinder, since right now we are kind of busy.
Like the author says, “Find out what makes you kinder, what opens you up and brings out the most loving, generous, and unafraid version of you—and go after those things as if nothing else matters. Because, actually, nothing else does.”
Everyone must read it, to get our priorities right.
